TANABATA CELEBRATION
Date: June 13th
Time: 2:30-4:00 pm

Join us for a unique celebration of the Japanese holiday that will include kamishibai story-telling, origami crafting, and writing  your special wishes on tanzaku strips to hang on the bamboo tree.  Ages 10 and up.  

This program will take place in the second floor classroom space at Arching Oaks.  Please contact us if you have type of mobility issue that would prevent you from accessing this space and we will be accommodate.

Your Instructor:  MAYUMI SOEDA
Mayumi Soeda Sensei is from Nagasaki Japan and has a strong passion for Japanese language and literature. She has a master's degree in linguistics from Nagasaki University and a bachelor’s degree in Japanese literature from Kumamoto University. Soeda Sensei has been a licensed teacher for middle and high school Japanese literature for 32 years and specializes in teaching Japanese language at the university level. Furthermore, she also successfully passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test, demonstrating her expertise in this field. In addition to her teaching qualifications, Mayumi San is a Japanese calligraphy instructor (Shodo) with a 5 Dan level of expertise in calligraphy with a Level 2 achievement in the Kanji Proficiency Exam. She is married and has 2 grown children.
