KYOTO CRAFTS SHOWCASE & MINI-WORKSHOPS
Arching Oaks welcomes artisans from the LITA collective located in Kyoto. DATE: November 16th, 2025 EVENT SCHEDULE: 12-5PM: KYOTO CRAFTS DISPLAY- Meet the makers and view the variety of handcrafted, artisan-made goods. Free admission. 12PM: PRESENTATION: Discussion about the crafts that are being showcased. Free admission. 1PM: MINI-LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOP: Participants will create their own rice paper lantern. (Pre-registration required) 3:30PM: STITCHED SHIBORI UNTYING WORKSHOP: Participants will carefully untie decorative stitches that have been painstakingly created by artisans to reveal a unique and beautiful pattern in the fabric. (Pre-registration required) 
ABOUT THE LITA COMPANY:
LITA was founded by Sachiko Tanno, a board member of Yahiro Electronics co., ltd., a bespoke lighting company based in Osaka. While working on custom lighting projects, she frequently received requests from international clients to incorporate elements of traditional Japanese craftsmanship into their designs. Through these experiences, she built close relationships with skilled artisans across Japan, gaining firsthand insight into their passion and dedication. Motivated by a desire to connect Japan’s rich craft heritage with modern living and to help preserve it for future generations, she established LITA. The brand curates exceptional handcrafted pieces that seamlessly blend tradition with contemporary lifestyles. LITA is more than just a collection of products—it is a platform that connects artisans with the world, safeguarding their skills while enriching everyday life with the timeless power of craftsmanship. |
