JAPANESE FOR BEGINNERS LEVEL 1:
10 sessions. Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 pm Jan. 8th- April 9th, 2026 (full class dates listed below) Maximum Number of Students: 10 Class fee: $150 for non-dojo members. $75 for dojo members. Please be sure that you are able to commit to all class sessions so that you can get the most of out the instruction presented! Class dates: January 8th, 15th and 22nd February 5th, 12th and 19th March 5th, 19th April 2nd and 9th Class Objectives: 1. Be able to have simple conversations in Japanese including basic greetings, self-introduction, etc... 2. Learn about seasonal events in Japan 3. Learn how to ask for directions to destination, order at a restaurant or purchase items at a store. In this class we will focus on conversational Japanese rather than grammar rules. Come, relax and have fun learning with your fellow students! |

Your Instructor:
Mayumi Soeda Sensei is from Nagasaki Japan and has a strong passion for Japanese language and literature. She has a master's degree in linguistics from Nagasaki University and a bachelor’s degree in Japanese literature from Kumamoto University. Soeda Sensei has been a licensed teacher for middle and high school Japanese literature for 32 years and specializes in teaching Japanese language at the university level. Furthermore, she also successfully passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test, demonstrating her expertise in this field. In addition to her teaching qualifications, Mayumi San is a Japanese calligraphy instructor (Shodo) with a 5 Dan level of expertise in calligraphy with a Level 2 achievement in the Kanji Proficiency Exam. She is married and has 2 grown children. |
